How to use your Jam Family Assistant to get everything in Jam
Meet Jaime — your Jam Family Assistant. Jaime is built into the Jam app and turns the plans that run your family's life into calendar events, to-dos, and list items, without all the manual tapping and typing.
Give Jaime information in whatever form it arrives, and Jaime figures out what it is and where it belongs. Jaime accepts four kinds of input:
- Forwarded email — forward an event email to go@jamfamilycalendar.com (see the Get Jam On It guide).
- Typed text — type it in plain language ("Soccer practice Tuesday at 4pm").
- Voice — tap the mic and say it out loud.
- Image — upload a screenshot or photo of a flyer, printed schedule, appointment confirmation, sign-up sheet, or group text.
And Jaime doesn't just make calendar events — it figures out what you gave it and files it in the right place, assigned to the right people:
- Calendar events for anything with a date and time (a flight confirmation, a dinner reservation, a doctor's appointment, kids' practices and parties), assigned to the family member(s) they're for.
- To Dos for actionable items without a fixed time (return the library books, sign up for the class party, buy a birthday gift), assigned to the right person.
- List items added to the right list — shopping, groceries, or any other list you've created
Jaime can also suggest things to bring or to do ahead of time based on the event — for example, bring cleats and a water bottle for soccer practice or a reminder to prep your dish for the class potluck — so you're ready before the day arrives.
How to Use Jaime
- Open the Jam app.
- Tap the purple magic-wand button to open Jaime.
- Choose how you want to give Jaime the details: type, voice, or image (screenshot/photo). (You can also forward emails — see below.)
- Jaime reads the input and suggests an event, To Do, or list item to add.
- Review the details, make any adjustments, and confirm.
Forwarding Emails to Jaime
You don't have to open the app to add an event from an email
Forward it to go@jamfamilycalendar.com from any email address linked to your Jam account — not just the email you signed up with.
If your work or personal calendar is connected to Jam via sync, you can forward straight from that address. You'll get a notification when your plan is ready to review. You can review it two ways: tap the notification, or open Jaime (the purple magic-wand button) anytime to see your pending plans waiting for review.
(See Full details in the Get Jam On It guide.)
How Jaime Decides Who an Event Is For
Jaime figures out who an event belongs to from the content of the message, not just who sent it. Including the family member's name helps Jaime assign it correctly. If Jaime gets it wrong, you can always reassign the event to the right person after it's created.
Tips
- Images work great for appointment confirmations sent by text, printed school flyers, sign-up sheets, and screenshots of group chats. Rule of thumb: if a person can read it and spot the plan in it, Jaime can too.
- Clear dates, times, and locations get the best results.
- Anything Jaime creates is fully editable afterward — change times, reassign family members, add reminders, or move it to a different list.
